Chicago and the Ette team are lucky to have had Dani join us last year. Her warmth and laughter never fails to brighten the room, and we knew she had to be a permanent member of our team as soon as we met her! Her non-traditional path the bridal alterations has given her such a variety of unique skills that we are awfully lucky to have around! Recently engaged herself, Dani loves non-traditional wedding elements, and can truly put any bride at ease.
Thanks to Meg Adamik for the beautiful photos!
Where are you from? I am from all over the Midwest. I was born in Skokie, and lived in Wilmette until I was 8. I largely grew up in Ann Arbor, MI, and spent my twenties in Madison, WI. I spent a year and a half in Dubuque, IA, with my fiancee, and then we moved to the Chicago area. Took me a while, but I made it back to the heart of the area. Can't find a decent gyro anywhere else.
What's your favorite sewing project? Probably my first. I didn't start sewing til much later than most people do, so my first real sewing project was a little bolero jacket to wear to my sister's wedding. I had a week, a hand-me-down sewing machine from my mom, and you-tube. The jacket was absolutely terrible, but I didn't don't know it. I was so proud of it. :)
What are you up to when you're not sewing? I have only been in the city for a year, so still exploring and learning my intersections. A certain portion of my day is claimed by my cats, and I tend to lean nerdy, playing rogue-like video games and watching cheesy action movies. But really, I always have three sewing projects going, and am usually putting something together or tearing it apart again.Favorite Movie? Clue. Seen it soooo many times. Still funny, and the outfits are fantastic.
Favorite Book? A children's quest story called The Phantom Tollbooth. I've read it more times than I've seen Clue.
Any pets? We have 2 cats, Julio and Lady Margeret Penelope. Or usually, Doodles and Face. The nicknames just kinda happen, y'know? They both have cow spots, and they're both very talkative.
